vCenter and the Virtual Boot Service

At the end of deploying the new virtual machine you may see that there is a service left behind called the “Virtual Boot Run”. It depends on which version of vCenter you run – if you get this service added to your deployed virtual machine. This service is used when you use sysprep with the “Guest Customization” wizard. If you would rather not have this service left behind in the virtual machine is can be removed (although it doesn’t cause any harm)

  1. Logon to the Virtual Machine with an Administrator account
  2. Stop the “Virtual Boot Run” service
  3. Open a CMD prompt Type:

    bootrun -unregserver
