For PowerShell/PowerCLI beginners, it may be worthwhile to check out PowerWF Studio. PowerWF provides a visual workflow representation of PowerShell and PowerCLI scripts and allows you to drag and drop PowerCLI cmdlets. PowerWF lets you export workflows as PowerShell snapins and modules.

-- IMO PowerWF would be a good way to introduce both PowerShell and PowerCLI to your students.
