Having worked ESX3 and 4 and on HYPER-V 2008 R2 it's clear to see that VMware still has the upper hand in many areas. Here are some of the things I've noticed in the last implementation I did.
- HYPER-V is very cumbersome to configure for LiveMigration with Cluster Shared Volumes (CSV).
- To get a full picture of what Hyper-V is doing during LiveMigration you have to look at all the tools available i.e. Failover Cluster Manager, SCVMM and in some case you get more from Hyper-V Manager.
- Another weakness in my mind is the reliance on third party vendors for network teaming (HP in particular)

That being said this version of Hyper-V is a definitive improvement, and a step in the right direction if MS wishes to catchup to VMware.

P.S. Long live RTFM!
