A couple other things on your caveats....

1) Apps must be updated to support multitasking....so yeah....not across the board yet (more each day though).

2) About 5-6 years ago Apple flipped from Firewire to USB for their cables and in the process changed out what pins on the dock connector were used for charging. For the next 2-3 years Apple stuff (iPods, iPhones) supported both sets of charging pins in the connector.....BUT most manufacturers selling accessories then didn't change. Then about 2-3 years ago new products started only supporting the new set of pins....and only then did you see new accessories hitting the market that used the new pins for power. So....call it an odd accessory maker thing... (or maybe intentional as they knew 2-3 years in advance....probably generated more revenue for them of people rebuying stuff)

3) The built-in Camera app is pretty basic...decent but basic. Go check out GorillaCam (free) or Camera+ (free) or just take pictures inside the Facebook app itself (it can control the camera....there are hooks for that).

So...my iPhone 4 has been on backorder for 12 days now...doesn't seem to be hurting them too much.

What I found most interesting in the recent Jobs preso was the return rate....for all the hub-bub the return rate is over 3x lower than the 3GS....so go figure.

Occasional dropped calls on my iPhone 3G but no huge deal and I have seen where AT&T here in SC/NC has been increasing their coverage overall (not fantastic but not awful).

I wonder if it almost comes down to the whole "Jesus phone" riff people had for a while....such high expecatations that anyone who is passionate about their gadgets was bound to be passionately disappointed (yet at the same time refusing to return it).

Oh and too add, I say that the iPhone4 is a good computer but a shite phone. It struggles to hold onto an E connection in the same exact spot where my Noka N95 had a full 3G signal!

Steve Jobs's Reality Distortion Field really manages to fool the public!

Hi Mike,

My experiences are very similar yours coming from a N95 (which I miss!)

I guess Tweetdeck needs to update their software to IOS4 compatible. IOS4 updates like the Reuters app are really good.

Apple though have missed the boat on some basic functionality

1) I can only send an MMS if I attach a picture or media object. I should have the ability to send an MMS without inserting a picture. If nobody understands this, it due to fact I can send MMS internationally for free. Yes I know email is an option, but MMS gets to the recipient ASAP (especially if they don't have a smartphone)

2) The ability to add your own words to the dictionary! Doesn't seem to work too well

3) Ability to cancel an incoming call by sending a preset message like , "Busy will call you later". This is a life saver.

The camera on the iPhone 4 is good but with the flash on all the pictures look washed out. Seems to be find on Video mode though.

Other issues is colour profile on video is wrong. Purple stuff appears as blue to the iPhone4!

Also annoyed that all my old chargers for iPOD and Golf iPOD connector don't work with iPhone ... looks like another gimmick to make us spend more money! :(
