Same issue as Roland,

ESXi 4.1 build 260247.

Windows Server 2003 SP2 STD with 3GB Guest Mem and using /3GB switch in the boot.ini. Memory corrupts and BSOD! Boot into safe mode, alter boot.ini, removing the /3GB switch, save and reboot. Sorted.

If got a serious error with ESX 4.1 build 260247.

When use use a Windows 2003 sp2 std with 4GB Guest Mem with the /3GB switch in the boot.ini. Memory gets corrupted.

Without the /3GB everthing is OK.

OK. So what was the purpose of the pre-upgrade bundle? I ass-u-med that it was needed prior to running the bigger upgrade .zip.

There wasn't much in the way of documentation about what the bundle was for. Interesting it apply and make changes to the existing ESX 4.0 U2 hosts I had when updated with esxupdate...

pre-upgrade bundle was not meant for VUM. All it needed was upgrade-from-to bundles. Sorry to see that you had to find out this way, though.

Hi Mike

Check out this article for the MSCS for vCenter

http://www.yellow-bricks.com/2010/07/16/mscs-clustered-vcenter-server-4-x-not-supported/

Good article by the way on the upgrade process. Personally I always reinstall instead of upgrade. Just to be safe and clean.

Cheers

Hi Mike,

I got the same SQL error when running the vcenter Server install the first time as well, so I'm not so sure its a "fat-fingered" error. Worked the second time with no problems.

There are a couple of other issues worth noting:

Post-4.1 upgrade error in converter health status - http://communities.vmware.com/thread/276101

HA failures after vCenter 4.1 upgrade - http://communities.vmware.com/message/1570813

We've seen both here.

I've got no resolution for the Converter health status issue.

Disabling HA on an affected HA cluster, waiting for HA to be removed from all hosts in cluster, then re-enabling fixed the HA issue here.
